Clinical Supervision
What is Clinical Supervision?
Clinical supervision is a structured, professional relationship where an experienced licensed clinician (the supervisor) provides guidance, feedback, and support to a counselor-in-training. The goal is to help the supervisee develop clinical skills, ensure ethical and effective practice, and promote professional growth. Supervision often includes case review, discussion of therapeutic techniques, and exploration of the counselor’s personal reactions to client work. It is also a requirement for licensure in all states.
