Session times range from 45 to 60 minutes in duration. Typically it takes an average of 8 to 10 sessions before significant changes are noticed. Because each individual issue is unique, the number of sessions needed vary depending on the specific issue. For those who are just starting the counseling process, it is generally encouraged to begin with weekly sessions. If you and your therapist agree that progress is being made towards your goals. There is the option for bi-weekly sessions. If you have achieved your treatment goals, you may also find that a monthly check-in may be beneficial.Your participation in therapy is voluntary and you have the right to end therapy whenever you want. However, if you do decide to exercise this option, it would be beneficial that you to talk with your therapist about the reason for your decision in a counseling session together. Ideally, it would be best that you allow for one final session for you and your therapist to have an ending together, to review progress. and to offer feedback to each other.
